Labor Cabinet to Hold Free OSHA Training in Louisville
Kentucky Ag Connection - 09/26/2016

The Kentucky Labor Cabinet will host free OSHA training in Louisville from Oct. 3-6. The week-long workplace safety seminar is a part of the Labor Cabinet's Population Center Training series which are held in various cities across the state throughout the year.

"Our Population Center Training series is an opportunity for the Labor Cabinet to discuss the latest techniques and protocols in workplace safety with employees across the state," Sec. Ramsey stated. "Kentucky's workplace Incident Rate is at an all-time low, but we know that increasing awareness and educating the Commonwealth's employees is critical to ensuring that our workplaces become even safer. I'd like to encourage any and all employers in and around Louisville to take advantage of this opportunity. Workplace safety requires a teamwork approach, and together we can work to ensure Kentucky's employees are armed with the best information to ensure they have a safe day at work -- every day."

Population Center Training courses are for both employers and employees and are typically given over a one-week period at each location. The courses are designed to outline the requirements contained in the various subparts of the General Industry and Construction Standards, covering both safety and health issues. Last year, 2,049 participants attended the Population Center Training series. In addition, the Labor Cabinet's eLearning web-based training portal was accessed by 24,146 people -- providing free online interactive training modules covering a variety of safety topics for employers and employees. All classes are free of charge and open to the public.
