Bevin Makes Appointments to Boards and Commissions

Gov. Matt Bevin made the following appointments to Kentucky Boards and Commissions:

Dr. Mark E. Lynn, Michael Edward Poynter, and Andrew Marshall Coyle have been appointed to the State Fair Board. Lynn, Louisville, is an optometrist. Lynn will represent citizen members and serve as Chair of the Board. He shall serve for a term expiring May 10, 2021. Poynter, Stanford, is retired. Poynter will represent the Kentucky Association of Fairs and Horse Shows. He shall serve for a term expiring May 10, 2021. Coyle, Owingsville, is a farmer. Coyle will represent Kentucky Farm Bureau. He shall serve for a term expiring May 10, 2021.

The State Fair Board is the governing body for Kentucky Venues, which manages the Kentucky Exposition Center and the Kentucky International Convention Center. In addition to managing both facilities, Kentucky Venues owns and produces events, and owns land for more than a dozen properties, including hotels, restaurants and parking garages.

Deborah Gill and Megan Finnie have been appointed to the Kentucky Board of Licensure and Certification for Dietitians and Nutritionists. Gill, Versailles, is a treatment coordinator. Gill will represent citizen members. She shall serve for a term expiring July 15, 2020. Finnie, Lexington, is a registered dietitian. Finnie will represent health care facilities other than hospitals. She shall serve for a term expiring July 15, 2019.

The Kentucky Board of Licensure and Certification for Dietitians and Nutritionists oversees licensing of eligible candidates for entry into the profession of dietetics and nutrition. It recommends appropriate changes in the law to assure fairness and equality and conducts formal hearings when necessary.

Terry Lewis Bunnell has been appointed to the Real Estate Appraisers Board. Bunnell, Glasgow, is the chairman and CEO of the Peoples Bank and Peoples-Marion Bancorp, Inc. in Crittenden and Barren counties. Bunnell will represent the lending industry. He shall serve for a term expiring May 9, 2020.

The Real Estate Appraisers Board is composed of five gubernatorial appointees. The Board is charged with regulating and controlling the licensing and conduct of real estate appraisers within the Commonwealth.

Gregory Alan Yankey, Ron D. Gilkerson, Mark Burton Mangun and Stephen B. Sullivan have been appointed to the Kentucky Geological Survey Advisory Board. Yankey, Salvisa, is an engineer. He shall serve for a term expiring September 1, 2019. Gilkerson, Nicholasville, is an engineer. He shall serve for a term expiring September 1, 2019. Mangun, Frankfort, is a professional geologist. He shall serve for a term expiring September 1, 2019. Sullivan, Louisville, is a professional geologist. He shall serve for a term expiring September 1, 2019.

The Kentucky Geological Survey Advisory Board is charged with increasing the knowledge and understanding of the mineral, energy, water resources, geologic hazards and geology of Kentucky for the benefit of the Commonwealth and nation. The Board also conducts research, collects data, and serves as the state's official archive for information on petroleum, coal, minerals, ground water, and topographic and geologic maps.
