Kentucky Ag Connection - 03/13/2018

The following is being released by Shipman & Wright, LLP; Daughtry, Woodard, Lawrence, & Starling, LLP; and Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, LLP about the lawsuit Speaks v. U.S. Tobacco Cooperative, Inc., No. 5:12-CV-729-D, in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina.

The Court has finally approved the $24 million Settlement with U.S. Tobacco Cooperative, Inc. ("U.S. Tobacco"), formerly known as Flue-Cured Tobacco Cooperative Stabilization Corporation, to resolve legal claims made by current and former U.S. Tobacco members over reserve funds.

"Time is running out. Tobacco growers who were or are members of U.S. Tobacco, as well as their heirs or representatives, should file a claim online or by mail by the May 26 deadline," said William Wright, a partner at Shipman & Wright, LLP, a law firm appointed by the Court to represent growers in this class settlement.

Claim forms and more information on how to submit a claim are available at the website www.FlueCuredTobaccoSettlement.com or by calling 1-866-458-3207.
