Youths Die After Being Trapped in Grain Bin

Authorities have released the names of the three victims trapped in a grain bin Wednesday at Haasbach LLC in Mount Carroll, Ill.

According to a Carroll County Sheriff’s Department news release, William Piper, 20, of Mount Carroll was removed from the grain bin around 4:15 p.m. and transported by Lifeline Helicopter to St. Anthony's Hospital in Rockford, Ill. where his condition is unknown at this time.

Alejandro Pacas, 19, of Mount Carroll was removed from the grain bin at 10:16 p.m. and was pronounced dead by the Carroll County coroner.

Wyatt R. Whitebread, 14, of Mount Carroll was removed around 10:50 p.m. and was pronounced dead by the Carroll County coroner.

The incident remains under investigation by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department, the Carroll County Coroner's Office and OSHA.

Mount Carroll is about 65 miles north of the Quad-Cities. The grain facility is located southwest of the town, just off Illinois 64.
